Welcome to the Matt Kirk Jazz website! MKJ is a community of talented,
professional musicians that come together to provide the very best in performance
musical entertainment. At over 100+ dates each year, the band (in various forms),
performs everything from jazz-to-rap, depending on the needs of our clients. While
jazz is our staple, we offer a variety of music styles and player configurations to
satisfy the theme and budget of any event. Here's how:
Matt Kirk Jazz
MKJ provides the core band for all the Matt Kirk performances!
Smooth and polished, this is the very best of traditional jazz performed by a few of
the NW's very best musicians. Familiar, comfortable, balanced and groovy...
Matt Kirk Solo
Matt Kirk Solo is MK playing variety-contemporary acoustic background music
with a coffee-house feel... smooth background to set a mood for the room without
distraction. Soulful.
Matt Kirk and Friends
Expands on the MK Solo variety music with invitational appearances from some of
Portland's best performers and soloists "sitting in" for cameo appearances. Matt
Kirk and Friends also offers a complete dance band for your party plan! (get down and boogy!)
Matt Kirk & the Sexy Boys
Pure fun. This is a pile of great players (random, seldom the same) that come in and
play everything they got. ...blues, rock, jazz, soul, rap... Sometimes it's guitar wars,
sometimes a full band with keys and drummers... but every time it's a fun,
in-your-face jam that produces a great groove-
